Yesteryard

Overview

Yesteryard is a free guide to the history of ordinary places. Walk, bike, or ride, and a short story plays as you reach each spot, told by a “sidewalk historian.” Season 1 starts in Venice Beach and Los Angeles.

“Hear what used to be here.”

What It Does

  • A map of nearby places with a notification when you arrive at a stop
  • Narrated episode walks you can take on foot, or listen to at home
  • Routes by bike, Metro, and bus
  • Every fact sourced, every photo credited
  • Keep your phone in your pocket. Location stays on your phone and is only used to detect arrival

My Role

I write, research, narrate, and build it. The app, the episodes, and the site. Published by Stay Reflective Company.

Status

iPhone beta (TestFlight), with web listening available. Android later. Taking requests for new cities, and looking for local historians, archives, and neighbors who want to contribute stories.
