Playback Pilot

Overview

Playback Pilot is a Mac and Windows app for music producers. It scans your folders for DAW projects (Ableton, Logic, FL Studio, Pro Tools, Reaper, and 10 more), then helps you track progress, preview and compare mixes, and decide what to work on next. Your data stays on your machine.

“Finish More Music, Faster.”

The Problem

Most music makers don’t have a creativity problem. They have a finishing problem. Projects pile up across folders and drives, half-done ideas get lost, and every session starts with “where was I?” I know this one personally: Playback Pilot grew out of my own pile of unfinished Stellar Mammals songs.

What It Does

  • Project scanner: finds DAW projects across your drives automatically
  • “What should I work on?”: suggests your next session, or surprises you
  • Producer insights: a stage pipeline with labels like Stalled, Almost Done, and Ready, so bottlenecks are visible
  • Session tracker: timed studio sessions and check-ins
  • Mix compare: A/B audio preview and “set as best” for versions

My Role

I designed and built it end to end: product, desktop app, marketing site, and growth. It’s a mix of creative psychology and tech. The real question isn’t file management, it’s how to help people stay with a long creative project through the messy middle.
